Team Pilipinas - 8th place
After 1 week of competition, it is finally over. Team Pilipinas finished the tournament in the 8th place, one rank higher than their last outing. Their last three games are as follows:
Aug. 14 Philippines vs Jordan 70 - 81
Aug. 15 Philippines vs Qatar 65-83
Aug. 16 Philippines vs Korea 80-82
The teams that qualified for the world Championships are Iran, China and Jordan.
Kudos to Yeng Guiao and the rest of Powerade Team Pilipinas for their effort.
Well, as they say, Better luck next time.

Philippines vs. Kuwait
The Philippines secured 3rd place in the standings of group E after defeating Kuwait 85 - 71. Cyrus Baguio led the team with 14 pts. Team Pilipinas' next opponent is the 2nd place of group F and it will be determined later in a match between China and jordan.

Philippines vs. Iran
Iran proved to be too strong for the Philippines as the defending champs crush Team Pilipinas 88-78 in the ongoing Fiba Asia Tournament. The 7 foot Memphis Grizzlies player Hamed Ehdadi scored a game high 21 points and collected 6 rebounds. Willie Miller and James Yap scored 14 each for the Filipino squad who dropped their record to 2-2. The Philippines' next opponent will be against Kuwait on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 .

Philippines vs. Chinese Taipei
After three terrible shooting games, Team Pilipinas finally had a good shooting night as they scorched the net with a blistering 15 3pointers. James Yap led the barrage with 6 out of 11 3's towards his 23 point performance. Willie Miller added 17 points on 5/5 shooting from rainbow country as the Filipinos defeated Chinese Taipei 77-70.

Philippines vs. Korea
on the third day of the competition the Philippines lost to Korea 69-56. The Koreans controlled most of the game. The Philippines did not had the chance to take the lead to the much taller Koreans. The only bright point of the game was the spectacular plays of Cyrus Baguio who scored 16 pts. on 7 out of 10 shooting. August 10 will be the next game of Team Pilipinas against Chinese Taipei.

PHILIPPINES VS. JAPAN
Philippines wins its 2nd game of the tournament by defeating Japan 78-69. Sonny Thoss led team Pilipinas with 15 pts and Asi taulava contributed 11 pts and 8 rebounds. The Philippines started sluggishly in the game in which they trailed Japan 41 - 35 at the half. They started to come back late in the 3rd and the start of the 4th where Taulava scored 9 of his 11 pts. Next game will be against Korea on August 8, 09 at 9:00pm.

PHILIPPINES VS. SRI LANKA!

The Philippines wins the first game of the tournament with a overwhelming 115 - 31 win over Sri Lanka. Jared Dillinger led the team with 21 pts and Asi taulava contributing 15 pts and 13 boards. It was all Philippines right from the start as they begin the beating with an 8 - 0 run. Next game will be tomorrow, August 7, 2009 at 9:00pm against Japan.
